Sanitation :“Internal and external cleanliness takes us to Godliness”- As per these words of Mahatma Gandhiji, JST has been continuously working ever since the Total Sanitation Campaign was launched on 2nd October 2005 for the achievement of open defecation free , plastic waste free, clean and green villages.
‘Sanitation is all about change of attitude and mind set’ – therefore JST has been working to clean the minds and clean the surroundings and increase the green cover by organising information, education and motivational camps in all the 5 blocks of Dakshina Kannaa District. Now Trust’s main work has been to create awareness among people how waste can be converted into wealth through segregation of waste at source.
‘AYUSH Grama Arogya Abhiyana’: Aimed to promote Baleuni and Kairangala villages of Balepuni Grama Panchayath in Bantawal Block as ‘Arogyavanthara Grama’ village with healthy people, ‘AYUSH Grama Arogya Abhiyana’ has been initiated with the support of the Father Muller Homeopathy Medical College and Hospital Derlakatte, AYUSH Department of D.K.District, Balepuni Grama Panchayath and local organisations. Objective of this campaign is to improve the health status of the people by reaching out the medical services of the AYUSH department and encouraging people to increase traditional health practices such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani , Sidha and Homeopathy. In order to achieve the set objectives of this campaign, house hold survey to assess the health status of the people, provide health cards, regular awareness programmes, free health check up and treatment camps at habitation levels are being organised.
